It gives me immense pleasure to put on record the all-round progress and development of Fortuna Advanced Institute of Research & Studies (FAIR) as a pioneer Institution in the fields of Advanced Agriculture, Biomedical Science and Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics in the State of Karnataka. I humbly express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all concerned for their dedicated effort and total focus that has brought us this far, which is indeed marvelous and appreciable.
Our vision is to empower the teaching community & to create an Institution par excellence with innovative concepts for imparting quality education and enable our students to serve themselves, their country and the society at large in a much better and professional manner, empowered by the specialized knowledge and experience garnered in this Institution.
I am confident that the Institute, will contribute immensely to shape the future of the young minds of our country and transform their latent potential into blossoming, successful careers resulting in national development. I further feel that the Institute will be a pioneering beacon and would leave a legacy of foot prints on the sands of time, worth following.
The Institute, Fortuna Advanced Institute of Research and Studies (FAIR), by recognizing the importance of Agriculture education in rural areas has, in my opinion, rightly selected Nanjangud as the ideal location to start B. Sc. (Hons.) Advanced Agriculture, a four years undergraduate degree programme. The Institute gives great emphasis on dynamic curriculum and intends to implement the recommendations of the Fifth Deans’ Committee of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, which came into effect from the academic year 2020-21, with a total credit of 183 which is commonly prescribed for the entire UG degree programme across the country. Further, for an all-round development of the students, extra-curricular activities like NSS, physical education and yoga practices have been included as a part of syllabus. A new programme on 'Student READY' (Rural Entrepreneurship Awareness and Development Yojana, under the aegis of the ICAR) has been introduced along with a Kannada language course. The Institute, by way of producing well qualified and trained manpower, would help the farming community not only in the environs of Nanjangud and the district of Mysore in particular, but also those of the entire state in general. The district has varied agro-climate conditions congenial for growing of various field as well as fruit and plantation crops. It is located in Nanjangud on the way to Gundalpet and Ooty.
At Fortuna Advanced Institute of Research & Studies (FAIR), the educational community strives for excellence by preparing the students for learning beyond their College years and assisting them to become lifelong learners, as well as helping them to be self-directed, realistic, and responsible decision makers when solving problems that they will encounter in our multicultural, ever-changing world. Ultimately, each one will gain from their life at College according to the effort one applies.
The three undergraduate special science courses offered by our Institute are B.Sc. (Advanced Agriculture) which is a four year Programme, B.Sc. (Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics) & B.Sc. (Biomedical Science) each of three year duration aiming to provide a demanding academic environment emphasizing learning, job opportunity, as well as social and personal growth.
I sincerely hope that all those involved in the programme, the focused students, the committed faculty and the dedicated supporting staff will make use of the quality infrastructure and facilities made available to the fullest extent, to shape a bright and successful future for the aspiring students in their chosen careers as well as for the great success of this venture in which the management has plans of starting research activities also, as the name of the Institute suggests, in the years to come. Such ventures are the corner stones of progress, on which the development of the nation rests. I sincerely appreciate and thank the Management for their far-reaching forethoughts and futuristic ideas, not just for choosing a rural location for the Institute but also for opting modified syllabi.
